- Our egress photoluminescent marking tape is a smooth demarcation tape, used domestically or commercially for marking interior buildings for power outage and "lights out" situations. The tape's glow in the dark properties come from photoluminescent powder applied to the base film. When lights go out, the powder's photons that have stored light from natural or artificial light release energy and glow, marking stairways, walkways, doorways, exits, etc. Application on door frames, walls, and edges of walkways will highlight egress areas in darkened environments. Unlike traditional emergency lighting, this tape doesn't require power or batteries, making it a smart economical choice for long-term safety in buildings, ships and aircraft. The photoluminescent features of this tape ensures that pathways, exits, and critical safety equipment remain clearly visible, helping improve safety standards like DIN 67510 and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) regulations.
This is a high quality tape with high strength and time of glow properties. The luminance of glow in the dark materials is typically measured in millicandelas per square meter (mcd/m2). Measurements of products are judged on how long an afterglow takes to reach 0.32 mcd/m2, which is when it is rendered ineffective. This tape take approximately 450 minutes (6-7 hours) to reach that mark. ASTM 2027 (American Society for Testing Materials) stipulates that levels of luminance at 10 minutes should be 30 mcd/m2, and at 60 minutes 4.4 mcd/m2. From the above results, this tape exceeds these regulatory requirements.
Note: This egress marking tape should only be applied on surfaces not exposed to foot traffic. Our 3452 and 3454 Anti-Slip photoluminescent tapes would be an ideal alternative for foot traffic areas.
